Lakes of Parkway offers waterfront living within a gated, guarded community. Located in west Houston's Energy Corridor, between Eldridge Parkway and Highway 6, it boasts more than 700 homes as well as opportunities for new construction.

Kickerillo homebuilders began development of the 330-acre subdivision, formerly a cattle ranch, in 1995. The single-family houses and townhomes range in value from $375,000 to more than $2 million, with the top end for custom estates on one of nine manmade lakes and for Mediterranean-style villas in private cul-de-sacs. Single-family homes average four bedrooms and three baths. Median square footage comes in at 4,063, with median lot square footage at 9,734.

Adding to the Lakes of Parkway appeal are oak trees that line each street, paved walking and jogging trails, and a recreation center with tennis courts and Olympic- size pool. Courtesy officers man the entry gate 24 hours a day, providing residents with an increased sense of security. Students are zoned to Houston Independent School District.

A community feel comes from the homeowners' association, which holds summertime swim lessons, water-exercise classes and league tennis competitions. The Lakes of Parkway Women's Club, open to all residents, holds social, civic and charitable gatherings, as well.

The subdivision's location makes it especially desirable to employees in the energy industry who want a short commute and upscale amenities. Shopping and dining opportunities are plentiful nearby, and George Bush Park sits just across Highway 6 for outdoor recreation.
